CRAIG JOHNSON
Strategic Advisor and Consultant on the use of AI to improve the patient experience; Executive Adjunct faculty, Joint Mayo clinic/Northeastern University Digital Health Program
Craig has 40 years of healthcare industry and AI-based system implementation experience. Since selling Decision Point Healthcare Solutions as a co-founder in 2023 to mPulse, he has remained actively involved in advising, consulting, and teaching with a focus on the use of AI to improve the patient experience in health care.
After attending graduate school for applied mathematics and operations research, Craig spent his early career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory working on AI-based systems supporting the Voyager, Pioneer, and Galileo spacecraft. He transitioned to healthcare, working in increasing levels of IT management responsibility spanning the provider, hospital, and health plan settings. Ultimately, as CIO at a Boston-based health plan, he was recognized by CIO Magazine with their CIO100 “Mastering the Customer Connection” award for the implementation of a leading-edge customer relationship management system. These experiences led to a string of successful consulting engagements providing program management and system implementation services to national healthcare system vendors and governmental health and human service agencies.
As a co-founder at Decision Point Healthcare Solutions, Craig led the company’s science and technology efforts, blending machine learning, optimization, and other AI techniques into a best-in-class platform enabling analytic member engagement services to more than 50 health plans before being acquired by mPulse.
Craig is now focused on sharing his experience as an advisor/consultant and as an adjunct faculty teaching how we can improve the patient experience using AI as part of a joint Mayo Clinic/Northeastern University graduate program on digital health.
